I am a Licensed Psychotherapist providing individual and couples therapy for adults at my office located in Brooklyn Heights. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that can enrich people's lives, improve interpersonal relationships, and help to understand and change patterns and behaviors. I have experience working with adults struggling with depression, substance abuse and anxiety caused by a range of life transitions and stressors including relationship conflict, parenthood, grief, trauma, compulsions, low self-esteem and sexuality issues.
How To Start
The first step is for me to understand what brings you to treatment and for you to determine if I am a good fit for your needs. It's helpful to first speak briefly on the phone and then to meet in person so you can share your hopes and goals and decide the best way to move forward. After an initial introduction session, we meet once a week for 45 minutes in a space that is held for you. My clients find that their growth is accelerated by exploring old patterns in new ways through increased awareness of the present moment. This leads to expanding healthy choices by forming a new relationship to thoughts, feelings and life perspectives.
How I Work
My approach is an eclectic mix of psychodynamic and experiential-humanistic technique informed by my experience practicing and supervising in mental health agencies, Master's Degree education from New York University, Post-Graduate institute training in Gestalt Therapy, and as an Adjunct Instructor in the Brooklyn College Mental Health Counseling M.A. Program.
